1. License grant
Buying a Chat Hoarding lifetime license grants you a non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use the Chat Hoarding macOS application on up to two (2) Macs you own or control, and Chat Hoarding for Android on as many Android devices as you wish. The license is perpetual and includes future updates within the v1.x major-version line.
2. What you can do
- Install and run Chat Hoarding on up to 2 Macs at a time.
- Decrypt your own WhatsApp backups, browse them, and create .tarc archives, for personal, journalistic, legal, or commercial use.
- Export .tarc archives (and future PDF/HTML exports) anywhere you want.
- Revoke any Mac from /account and the freed seat is reusable on a new Mac.
3. What you can't do
- Decrypt backups that aren't yours, or process backups you don't have a lawful right to read.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute Chat Hoarding or your license key.
- Reverse-engineer Chat Hoarding to bypass the 2-Mac cap or licensing.
- Use Chat Hoarding to circumvent another person's privacy interests or violate applicable law.
4. Refunds
14 days, no questions asked. 95% back.
Email [email protected] within 14 days of purchase. We refund 95% of what you paid; the 5% covers the Stripe fee Stripe doesn't return on refund. Your license is revoked the moment the refund is issued and Chat Hoarding stops working on every Mac.
5. Updates
Lifetime includes all v1.x updates delivered via the EdDSA-signed update feed at chathoarding.app/appcast.xml. A future v2 with a substantially new feature set may be a paid upgrade. License holders get 30 days' notice and an existing-customer discount.
6. As-is + liability cap
Chat Hoarding is provided "as is". Total liability for any claim arising from your use of Chat Hoarding is capped at the amount you paid for the license in the 12 months prior to the claim.
7. Lawful use + recording rights
You are responsible for ensuring that decrypting and preserving a WhatsApp backup is lawful in your jurisdiction and consistent with any agreements you have with the counterparties in the chat. Chat Hoarding app does not exfiltrate anything; the backup is already in your possession on the Android phone. We do not advise on whether your specific use is permitted. That is for your counsel.
8. Termination
We can revoke a license for fraud, chargebacks outside the refund window, or use of Chat Hoarding in a way that violates section 3. We won't revoke for casual use you don't owe us a justification for.
9. Governing law
Chat Hoarding is operated by Launch52 from the EU. Disputes are resolved in the courts where the operator resides, except where mandatory consumer protection law gives you a more favorable forum.
10. Changes to these terms
Material changes get emailed to license holders 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that = acceptance.
