Feature

The whole conversation, not just the words

Voice notes, photos, videos, calls, locations, group history, and deletion markers with sender attribution.

Everything the conversation actually contained

WhatsApp's own database holds far more than text. Chat Hoarding app renders all of it: voice notes, photos, videos, GIFs, audio files, documents, stickers, shared locations, contact cards, call logs (audio, video, missed), deletion markers with sender attribution (the original text is gone — but the fact someone deleted it, and who, stays in your archive), and the system events that record group changes. New message kinds get rendered as WhatsApp introduces them.

Voice notes preserve the waveform

Modern WhatsApp stores a 64-byte amplitude waveform alongside each voice note so the original UI can render it without decoding the audio. Chat Hoarding app preserves this waveform in the .tarc archive and renders it the same way, so playback is fast and the visual matches what you remember.

Group membership over time

Group chats include a history of participants from group_participant_user. Chat Hoarding app shows who was in the group when each message was sent, who joined, and who left: the metadata WhatsApp's own export drops entirely.

FAQ

  • Are reactions preserved?

Yes, where they're in the database. WhatsApp's database schema for reactions has changed over the years; modern reactions land as message_reactions rows and render under the message bubble.

  • What about ephemeral / disappearing messages?

If WhatsApp has already discarded them from the database, they're gone. If the backup was taken before they vanished, they're in the archive.
